Certification Transition and Alignment Policy

NPPAS ensures that all inspectors receive current, research‑based training aligned with national safety guidelines and established standards.

Certified or recertified prior to January 1, 2024
Individuals who achieved certification or recertification before 1/1/2024 are eligible to recertify with NPPAS.

Certifications expired prior to December 30, 2023
Individuals whose certification expired before 12/30/2023 are not eligible for recertification unless they have remained professionally active as a playground safety inspector.

Certified with NPPS between December 16, 2023 and June 30, 2026
Individuals certified during this period must email PlaySafe@NPPAS.org with a written statement and submit official proof of certification. All applicants will be reviewed and evaluated on a case‑by‑case basis.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

To maintain the integrity of the NPPAS certification program and ensure consistent standards across all inspectors, the following cancellation and refund policies apply to all recertification submissions:

All recertification fees are non refundable
Once payment is submitted, NPPAS cannot issue refunds for cancellations, withdrawal from the process, incomplete submissions, or failure to meet recertification requirements.

Rescheduling / Extensions
Inspectors may request one 30 day extension to their recertification deadline. Extension requests must be submitted before the original deadline.

Expired Certifications
If an inspector does not complete recertification by the deadline (including any approved extension), the individual will have to re-enroll.

Technical Issues
If a renewal candidate experiences a technical issue with the NPPAS submission portal, please notify NPPAS immediately. Technical issues reported after the deadline cannot be used to request refunds or retroactive extensions.

Special Circumstances
NPPAS may consider documented medical or emergency circumstances on a case by case basis. These reviews do not guarantee exceptions.
