NPPS recently launched the Train-the-Trainer Playground Supervision and Sun Safety Training program in partnership with Iowa Child Care Nurse Consultants (CCNC). This project was a collaboration between NPPS, Healthy Child Care Iowa, Early Childhood Iowa, and Iowa Department of Public Health.
The train-the-trainer program launched many conversations on how we can support best practices, encourage quality supervision, and provide for sun protection information for Iowa child care programs. NPPS continues to help child care and school programs maximize outdoor time. Our efforts include helping programs and schools understand the importance of monitoring environmental conditions. Sun exposure on playgrounds, temperatures impacting active play, and playground safety all part of the training curriculum.
We look forward to providing support for the state of Iowa and we are hopeful other agencies may want NPPS to provide the Train-The-Trainer Playground Supervision & Sun Safety for their child care licensing consultants.
